Don't Go to ANY of their clinics...

I've had one cervical spine surgery 18 years ago. At that time, I was 51 years old. Right around the same time I had my first of two back surgeries. I have arthritis, stenosis and the arch in my cervical spine is gone and my cervical spine is straight up and down (which isn't particularly serious). I was told when the cervical spine surgery was complete that as I got "older" I would have more pain from the arthritis and stenosis. I began using Texas Pain Relief Group, based out of Florida, for "pain management." HA! The joke was on me. I had my pain under control but the clinic I had been using stopped seeing chronic pain patients. As someone else said, if you read their motto, "We don't treat the pain we treat the patient." *** They have taken all of the meds and stopped filling them for me. They push everyone into shots and other expensive procedures. Some of the lab bills for urine tests were $8,000.00 a pop. The personnel who see the patients are more like the enemy interrogating a captured soldier. I'm now 69 and have NEVER seen anything like this in my entire life. Everyone alive knows about the "opioid crisis" and for those of us who have chronic pain pay the price. *** I can't even take aspirin because of bleeding ulcers. If you read these reviews make sure you take heed. Please do yourself a favor and find someone who is involved with voodoo before you go to these clowns.

As soon as this new provider walked into the he seemed to think he knew everything about me, problem is he knew nothing about me. He talked over me and kept saying "It was in your chart" I couldn't even speak to explain that he was incorrect because he didn't come up for air. Our goals were completely different, he wanted to do "procedures" for my RA and when I did not agree to allow him to do them he became very angry. Why would I allow him to do a procedure on me when he wont even listen to what I have to say as the person you would be working on??? What a joke this place has become.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
All they care about is making money off chronically ill people. I had to be drug tested almost every visit like a drug addict. Several appointments I didn’t even see the doctor just a practitioner so they could get my copay. My joints are almost completely gone in my hips. My right knee is bad and now I’m having problems with my left knee after falling 3 times because Dr. Shalev told me I had to push myself. No wonder people turn to heroin and illegal drugs. I have a freaking care giver because I can’t hardly do daily tasks. Anyway, if you have a choice, pick somewhere else. Actually you can’t! Your office in Carrollton has billed me for the last time. Dr. Shalev or however you spell it has made me cry, hurt me, caused me to fall 3 times and made me do procedures that done work and cost money I don’t have. I can barely walk as it is and not only did I have to go to appointments, but also to the procedures. I have lost over 104 pounds already and he told me I needed to lose weight faster. His office girl Rosa yelled at me and told me I was wasting their time because I rescheduled a couple of procedures due to bronchitis and financial issues. I then told her I didn’t want to do useless procedures just so y’all can get paid. I think it’s disgusting how y’all are taking advantage of chronically ill people. I have to have two hip replacements and one knee replacement well maybe two now because of my falls. Those were also due to pushing myself because the doctor said in order to get my medicine I had to show improvement. So I found another pain doctor. I need one more month of medicine and was told I had to come in and pay another copay. Screw that! I’m not giving y’all another penny! I don’t care what I have to do. I’m telling EVERYONE about y’all! Plus I’m contacting the media again about this! Yes I said again. I’m also writing reviews online etc.

Done suffering while paying them money!

So I again went in this month for a medicine refill bc after seeing Dr. Nieves at my last appt and he changed my meds and they were affective and I've actually been pain free for once in the past year. I saw the female NP again that I hate, bc the wait for Dr. Nieves was long and one of the nurses asked if I wanted to see the new NP and told me it wasn't the one I'd seen before and had issues with, well it was her again. She still didn't know any of my illnesses or why I take pain meds or about my current complications, then told me bc I take an anxiety medication as needed 2 times a week that she was going to have Dr. Nieves lower my hydrocodone to 3 a day rather than 4 a day, even though I told her I was finally having controlled pain with my meds now and she then tried to say "well Dr. Nieves probably didn't know you were taking that medicine" I told her I've been on that medicine before I even came to this pm clinic over 3 years ago, and Dr. Nieves is the one who prescribed my meds with the 4 hydrocodone a day in the first place. Well I call to pick up my meds from the pharmacy and she told him to lower my meds, all bc I take xanax 0.5mg 2 times a week as needed for social anxiety! I'm done with this drs office!! I'm tired of the *** service from the NP and the fact she doesn't even know why you're taking these meds but is quick to push her opinions of pain meds on patients and their treatment. Bc she said several times to me that she hoped I wasn't taking all 4 hydrocodone a day even though it's prescribed that way bc she thinks that's too much for me to be taking and that she'd rather I look into other roots for pain relief. I have LUPUS there isn't any other type of anything to help the pain from that, along with multiple other autoimmune diseases that cause pain as well and neuropathy! So that alone made her sound like an idiot! If you think ppl shouldn't take pain meds for their pain then go work somewhere that's not a pain management clinic! Don't try to treat patients with your own beliefs and opinions of pain medicine. I'm done with this office and will write a review about how awful it is every where I can, bc all they do is take your copay(which if you don't have they tell you that you can't be seen and too bad if you have withdrawals from your meds) and then treat you like a $ and don't care to help you any other way.

Kept scheduling me for wrong procedure

I was referred by an orthopedist to the Texas Pain Relief Group on 2/16/18 to have an EMG done to diagnose whether I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I was referred to TPRG because I needed a Friday appointment and they were the first service with availability on a Friday. I set up an appointment for 3/30/18 in the morning. On the day of 3/30, I drove to this appointment, only to be told, upon arriving, that the physician was absent that day, and that even if the physician *had* been there, that they do not perform the EMG procedure at that location anyway. (The EMP request was apparently on page 7 of the referral and nobody thought to read all the way to the end.) No one apparently thought to call to tell the patients ahead of time that the doctor wouldn't be in! My appointment was early, but not that early. So, I scheduled a *second* appointment, for 4/27/18 again to have the EMG procedure done at a different location which does perform the procedure. After waiting a few weeks, I called to follow up, since no one had ever confirmed this appointment or that we would actually be able to perform the EMG at the new location on 4/27. I called on Saturday, 4/14/18 to ask to verify my appointment was correct. Unfortunately, the gentleman who answered the phone could only say that he was the night answering service but that he would ensure I got a callback from the TPRG on Monday morning. Monday morning came and went. So did Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So today, Friday the 20th, I called the TPRG again to attempt to verify that we were all read to go for the 27th and that I'd be able to get my procedure done. No, again I was told that that procedure couldn't possibly be done on Friday, and that the individual from the Keller office had never said that I needed an EMP. The whole reason I was referred to the TPRG in the first place is because I needed an appointment on a Friday! So now, here I am, over two months since the initial referral, in a growing amount of pain, and I still don't even have an appointment to get the procedure I need performed. The office manager refused to get on the phone with me; apparently her responsibility ends with telling the girls at the front desk to just keep ineffectively rescheduling the wrong appointments. The doctors here might be fine; I wouldn't know. But the Texas Pain Relief Group's inability to actually read the referral, or reschedule the correct appointment after being explicitly told what was needed, or even to respond to patient inquiries in a timely fashion have ensured that I will absolutely never look to them for my medical care again.

Drug screens/tests

As a patient, I had been subjected to the signing of the opiate agreement in order to receive my treatment with TX Pain Relief Group. Inclusive of the screens, etc., etc.

My physician actually did a good job with my med's. I have peripheral neuropathy and polymositis myopathy. Muscle and Nerve disease's for my main conditions. Both have no cure and will, most likely, deteriorate until my end.

Prior diagnostic,s, very well documented be for I went to clinic for my pain. It became unbearable. A little about the matter of the opiate agreement and drug screens. I was put on Lyrica 75 mg.

and generic percocet 5-325. Anyway I did the agreement and submitted to the screens.. Of course I had two visits and screens BEFORE my insurance and I was informed of the astronomical costs $9880. screen, $6384.

DNA (not one,, DNA mention in new pat. pact??) the $345. first visit and the $478. for another drug test procedure.

Stay with me. Yes the totals are outrageous to say the least. Believe me I called and talked to Fl. billing office.

After talking to a Larissa. (She's not the only one). After I strongly voiced my displeasure to all the ,above mentioned, We had a very good and a mutually informative talk.. The end result was the Tox.

and DNA Lab work went away. The $345 went to $278.(still to much). The $478. I did not like because it was related to screens, ( a blaa, blaa, blaa explanation was given, basically another clinician handling my *** cup???

anyway my Medicare Advantage PPO handled most of this charge. The end result to this writing is that if you are a patient of TX. P. Mgt./DNA labs.

LLC/Med. Tox. Labs LLC/ all part of P.P.O.A.. You and your Ins.

Co. may and most likely be billed in this shocking manner.

DO NOT despair. A well placed phone call may HELP.

Dorkle, Thanks. I haven't gone that route yet.

If you have, please let me know your results? I have only talked to a Lirrisa ?.. Yea, she assured me? I gave her my e-mail for a conformation..

No Reply. Go figure.. That was last month 2/8 day of visit and I'd just completed my 3/8/18 visit. Stonebrair Phar.

supposedly has Script to deliver. From your comment it sound like I better do the letter and cert. thing. If you did.

Did you get any response? From any PPOA dept's. I have the FL. address's of Main office Again thanks for reply.

I got to do another post because I stopped perc's and requested Tramadol. Class 4. I've been doing extensive research on it and Class 4 is a bogus classification. I'll post my finding and helpful web's.

Sound's like I got to the cert. letters.

Thanks again. Keep in touch..

It really sux when you are in pain and you go see your doctor and don’t have good insurance and have to pay a hefty price to see them and you have to wait three days before you get your medicine because the stupid doctor has to call it in on a computer. What happened to the paper prescription. It bad when you pay that much to see your doctor and have to wait three day before you get your medicine.

Was charged $278 for office visit but was not treated!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had very painful headaches for years and have spent thousands of dollars on scans, blood test, x-rays and ultrasounds. I have been prescribed a plethora of various medications that included drugs used for Bi-Polar disease. I had an appointment yesterday at the Richardson Texas office and paid $278.00 for a consultation with the nurse. That was okay. I was totally honest and upfront about my concerns, medications I have been on and the treatment plan that I had been receiving. I also specifically told the nurse about certain medications I cannot take because they either didn't work or they created my IBS to flare up. Once I got home I discovered the doctor prescribed a medication that I did not need which was Lidocaine. I have used this before and know it does not treat my headaches. I still have tubes of it at home and only paid $50.00. But their cost was $700. Then the doctor prescribed medication that I specifically said I CANNOT take which is Fioricet with acetaminophen because it gives me diarrhea. I saw the nurse write that down in my file which makes me believe the doctor didn't read it. The nurse knew the pain treatment plan I'd been on and it was even written in my file from visiting there a year ago. After calling the Richardson clinic, I was told he may not have been comfortable prescribing the medication, even though he should have seen in my file, that the doctor I use to see last year in 2016 gave me that as she tried to find a way to possibly find something that would get me to a point where I didn't need to take it at all. I sat with the nurse and we discussed all of this and I believe he notated it in my file. If Dr. Crater (I believe) wasn't comfortable with continuing my treatment plan, why would he not try to discuss alternative medications opposed to calling into the pharmacy a drug I did not need for $700 and a drug I cannot take for $195. The total from this 11/28/17 visit amounts to $1,173.00. This doctor did not ".. treat the pain, .. or.. treat the person". My money was taken in the amount of $278.00 and the doctor called in medication that I do not need and cannot take. When I called to try to talk to the nurse or the doctor, I was told by whoever answers the phone that they were not available. Now no one will talk to me at all. I WILL NOT STOP ANY COMMUNICATION REGARDING THIS MATTER UNTIL I FIND SOMEONE THAT CARES AND WILL HELP!

$$Out of Control Billing!!

Paid at every visit and was told I didn’t owe a penny. Went for about a year in 2015 before my surgery’s. Needless to say I’m getting crazy billing from them for UA’s in the thousands of dollars!?!?! Did the same as the post above me I called office and they acted like they didn’t have a clue and left VM with number on bill. What’s even crazier is it I think it shows me testing positive for tobacco use?!?! How this place can charge thousands of dollars for a test I can buy for $30 at the damn store! Not to mention I was told when I paid the $150 bucks per visit bc I didn’t have insurance! And what made it worse is she had me come in every two weeks for the longest time trying to adjust the meds meanwhile raking up the money for UA’s I guess!

I take (or used to) my mother theire every month and get seen myself to get two things done at once. I experienced problem after problem (some border on criminal) but have been willing to overlook most of them because they were primarily customer service and not health care provider related. I kept going back because of the location and because I like Ray shoulders and thought he actually cared about me as a person. This turned out not to be the case. They had me fooled but the truth is they wouldn't offer a blanket to a freezing baby if it caused them to have to go out of their way. If you like the customer service at the DMV then this may be just the place for you.

Dishonest Billing and Fraud

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My wife went to Texas pain relief Group for her diabetic neuropathy pain managment. The Dr's there said she would have to be drug tested for the first 3 visits which is no problem with her.

She submitted her urinalysis drug test at the visit. The drug screen was sent to Medical Tox Labs in Florida. This was done every month at her monthly visit for the next 2 months, We assumed that since they said it was for the first 3 visits and then random after that that is what it would be. That is not the case the next visit in march 2017 they said time to do your drug screen....

we questioned but complied as requested. The physicians request the drug screen at every visit, and we have complied at every visit. There has never been any abnormality on any of the results. This has gone on every month since 12/2016.

In April 2017 I began receiving EOB letters from my insurance United Healthcare and bills from Medical Tox Labs for the charges not covered by Insurance. This cost is $9880.00 PER TEST. Absurd cost for a urinalysis. The following appointment in May we spoke with the physicians office about the charges, they acted like they didn't know the charge amounts.

We complied with the request to do the "Monthly Drug Screen" at this visit as well. The following month at the June visit when they requested the "Monthly Drug Screen" we said no NOT AT THEIR LAB! They said oh ok you can take it to an outside lab such as Quest or Labcorp. So we took the lab order to our local lab which is Labcorp.

My wife submitted the required urinalysis drug screening test at Labcorp and the results were sent to the physicians office. As Always the results were exactly as they should be. I got an EOB letter from my Insurance for the Labcorp Drug Screen which is the exact same drug screen as Medical Tox Labs and the "Retail Price for the Drug Screen was only around $800.00 and the negotiated cost of the drug screen was around $ 80.00 and no co-pay. We have since June refused to use the physicians lab due to the cost they are billing our insurance and now use Labcorp for the exact same test.

The cost for the test at Medical Tox Labs is absurd. The physicians office requiring the drug screen test every visit is absurd and the GROSS Negligence of the physicians office to indicate that other labs may be used is also ABSURD. TEXAS PAIN RELIEF GROUP IS AN AFFILIATE OF PHYSICIAN PARTNERS OF AMERICA, WHICH OWNS MEDICAL TOX LABS AND MEDICAL DNA LABS IN FLORIDA. THIS IS GROSS FRAUD BY NOT INFORMING THE PATIENT OF THIS, GROSS FRAUD TO CHARGE THE FEES THEY CHARGE AND AN EXTREME CONFLICT OF INTEREST WITH THE PHYSICIANS OFFICES AND THE LABS.

Practices such as this are what drives up healthcare cost in this country and there need to be laws that prevent this practice with criminal consequences. Estimated Billing for the urinalysis for 6 months to my Insurance Company is around $60,000

Wow. However, we were provided documentation stating the cross-ownership issue at a recent initial visit.

It is necessary for patients to read all the paperwork, ask questions, and be very proactive in their care-like what you did with the urinalysis at the outside lab. Unfortunately, pain patients are at the mercy of these practices due to the unavailability of offices that will prescribe anymore.

Patients are being dropped or taken off meds and killing themselves due to pain...so we find ourselves rolling over and doing anything to try and get meds so we can just function-not for pleasure like the addict users. The physicians and their practices know this and walk all over us...and we pretty much have to let them...

Astronomical charges for urinalysis!!! Unfair policies !!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Besides reading the below comments about urinalysis- they charged my insurance $9,900.00 - recently this office is numbers game to manage pain care - under the pressures of CDC & DEA - they are in the process of reducing dosages and quantities of opioids- to all patients - except for cancer patients & the terminally ill. They have come up with an arbitrary index of numbers and ratios - which drastically reduced for pain medication levels - to satisfy DEA & CDC pressures! So your pain care & treatment goes To the wayside - and arbitrary numbers will determine what pain medication you will receive- therefore, when numbers determine your pain care, instead of Human determinations, it’s time to find another PAIN CARE FACILITY!!!!

This is without a doubt the WORST billing company I have come across in almost 60 years! They continue to bill for procedures I already paid for twice from over a year ago!

How incompetent? I hear nothing for 8 months and then receive bills. I pay them, 6 months later I get the bills again. I paid them again and still receiving them!

I'm told this was handled when I call them and even got in argument about it NOT being handled. They insured me it was, but still getting bills from 6/6/16, approaching 1.5 ago. Completely inept to the point they appear corrupt! I was billed for procedures I didn't receive and will be reporting this to insurance and filing as fraud!

This people need to go out of business! They are corrupt!
